VN-Index up as buying remains strong
Hanoi (VNA) - Strong buying and blue-chip rises were the order of the day on the stock market on July 10, pushing share prices up 1.6 percent.
The HCM City Stock Exchange is VN-Index jumped 7.05 point to close at 446.6. Trading volume reached 12.8 million shares worth 448.60 VND billion (27.18 million USD).
The day's exchange saw 107 winners and 40 losers.
Vietnam Tanker Joint Stock Co (VTO) was the most active of the day, with orders for 1.3 million shares matched. Sacombank (STB) followed closely with 1.2 million shares.
Almost all the gainers reached remarkable highs, including major stocks such as Phu My Fertilisers (DPM), Kinh Do Corporation (KDC) and Saigon Securities Inc (SSI). Vinamilk (VNM) shares, which have been falling, also hit the ceiling.
Foreign investors were active on July 10, buying 2.1 million shares and selling 2.5 million units. Over the last three days, investors have appeared to be more selective in the shares they trade. They sold penny stocks to concretise profits and actively bought in major stocks. Share trading is still being determined by sector. Pharmaceuticals, such as DHG, DMC ad IMP, have been sluggish for nearly a month, while mineral and building materials such as BMC, DHA have soared, as have banking and securities shares such asSTB and SSI.
On the Hanoi Securities Trading Centre, the HASTC-Index climbed 3.24 points, or 2.57 percent, to close at 129.16. Trading volume was 4.65 million shares, worth 121.87 billion VND.-
