JAPAN SUPPORTS RURAL WATER PROJECTS IN YEMEN WITH $ 17 MLN
SANA'A May 17 (Saba) – Yemen and Japan signed here on Monday an agreement of Japan grant presented to Rural Water Project at a total cost of about USD 17 million.
Under the agreement, signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi and Minister of Water and Environment Abdul-Rahman al-Eryani and the Japanese ambassador in Sana'a Mitsunori Namba, the Japanese government would provide USD 17 million dedicated for implementing rural water projects in provinces of Sana'a, Mahweet, Dhamar, Ibb and Taiz aiming to facilitate citizens' access to water in some selected areas within the five provinces.
After singing the agreement, al-Arhabi lauded the contributions of the Japanese government to support the Yemeni government's effort in developing the rural water projects and rehabilitating water supply facilities, affirming Yemen's keenness to boost the bilateral cooperation with Japan in all areas of joint cooperation.
For his part, the Japanese diplomat confirmed his country's interest to continue offering all aspects of possible support to enhance the development process in Yemen, praising the level of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries.
