YEMEN PARTICIPATES IN UN-ESCWA 26TH SESSION IN LEBANON

BEIRUT, May 17 (Saba)- Yemen is participating in the 26th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, represented by Undersecretary of the Planning and International Cooperation Minister for Studies and Economic and Expectations Mohammed al-Hawari.

At the session on Monday, al-Hawari reviewed, in his speech, the ESCWA efforts during the last two years in supporting programs and technical and advisory services for development process in the member states.

He shed lights on a number of main topics regarding to youth in the Arab world, building the human and institutional capacities which relate to good governance and efficient administration.

For his part, UN Undersecretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader al-Dafa said the ESCWA is working to monitor the economic and social developments in the region, affirming keenness to realize the regional integration through necessary
legislative frameworks.

It is worth to mention that Yemen presided over the 25th session of the ESCWA held in Sana'a in May 2008.
