PAKISTAN'S MINISTER FOR PRIVATISATION TO HAVE BILATERAL MEETING WITH MUSTAPA
KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) -- Pakistan’s Minister for Privatisation Senator Waqar Ahmad Khan will hold bilateral talks with Malaysia's International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed on the sidelines of the 6th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF).
He is scheduled to arrive here Tuesday. The two-day WIEF begins Wednesday.
The High Commission of Pakistan in Malaysia said in a statement Monday that
Khan will hold the bilateral meeting with Mustapa to discuss ways and means to
increase bilateral trade and investment between the two countries .
Both Pakistan and Malaysia have already agreed to establish separate working
groups to examine the possibility of collaboration in halal trade including
rice, mangos, oranges, milk and milk-based products and halal meat.
With its large agriculture base, Pakistan could become Malaysia’s long term
partner for the development of halal industry.
Khan will also meet WIEF Chairman Musa Hitam to discuss ways and means
to turn WIEF into a vibrant, practical and result-oriented forum capable of
bringing qualitative change in the lives of people of member states.
He is also scheduled to meet members of the Pro-term Committee of Malaysian
chapter of Pakistan-Malaysia Joint Business Council (JBC) to discuss the setting
up of the council here and to promote cooperation and networking between
traders, businessmen and investors of both the countries.
The Pakistan Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry has already
established the Pakistan chapter of Pakistan–Malaysia JBC.
