MONGOL BANK SIGNS MEMORANDUM WITH COMMERCIAL BANKS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Mongol Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Khan Bank and the Trade and Development Bank with aims to start the piloting the integrated payment card clearing system in May 15, 2010 and to officially put in operation in June 16, 2010.
Firstly, the Khan Bank and the TDB network will participate in the card clearing system and the Golomt Bank is planning to join the system within 2010. As of the last half of 2009, the number of card holder's reached over two million and the active card users /Use the card at least 5 times a month/ reached 476 thousand. 27% of the total card holders and 32% of the total active card users reside in the rural area.
The number of equipment for payment card settlements used at the Banks has been increasing year by year. Of which the number of ATM has increased by 103 and post terminal 694 in the last half of 2009 compared to the previous year.
The number and amount transaction by device are increasing every year. In the last half of 2009, total of 11 million transactions worth MNT 818 billion were settled through the payment card devices.
The card service is becoming more accessible for card users since the number of merchants reached 4,708. The Khan Bank and TDB cover the 70% of the market share according to the total number of transactions.
