MALAYSIA PAVILION IN SHANGHAI EXPO REFLECTS MALAYSIAN LIFESTYLE

SHANGHAI, May 19 (Bernama) -- Information Communication and Culture Minister
Dr Rais Yatim said the Malaysia Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo
fully reflects Malaysian lifestyle.

"The Malaysia Pavilion is unique. Not only does the building architecture
incorporate the characteristics and features of Malaysia, but most importantly,
activities inside the pavilion also reflect the 1Malaysia concept, where all
Malaysians live harmoniously under one roof," said the minister when visiting
the pavilion Monday.

Rais was at the Shanghai World Expo to receive the World Telecommunication
and Information Society Award 2010 on behalf of Prime Minister Najib
Tun Razak.

The award is presented by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in
conjunction with the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day
celebrations held at the Information Centre of the Expo site.

"Activities including batik painting and silver handicraft demonstrations as
well as cultural dance performances by artistes and entertainers which portray
our rich cultures had attracted many visitors to visit the pavilion," said Rais.

The minister said, according to pavilion manager Ivy See, more than 400,000
visitors had so far visited the Malaysian pavilion.

Themed "Better City, Better Life", the Shanghai World Expo will continue
until Oct 31, with organisers targeting 70 million visitors or more.
