UNESCAP SESSION ENDS IN S.KOREA


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The 66th session of the Commission Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was held May 13-19, 2010, in Incheon city, the Republic of Korea.
The session themed "Supportive Financial System and Green Growth for Achieving the Millennium Development Goals in the Asia-Pacific Region" brought together governmental representatives from some 60 countries.
At the session, Asia-Pacific countries discussed issues and released a recommendation on ways of rehabilitation after the global financial and economic crisis, on difficulties in reaching objectives of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and on intensifying the regional cooperation.
A delegation headed by the permanent representative of Mongolia to the ESCAP L.Dashpurev attended the session. The Mongolian side introduced the governmental policy on socio-economic sector, operations and difficulties in realizing the MDGs.
The session approved 15 resolutions. Mongolia acted as co-author for some resolutions--on developing transportation in Asia, on carrying on activities of the Asia-Pacific Training Center for Information, Communication and Technologies, on the Beijing Operation in Asia-Pacific Region and on Partnership between Private Sector and State for Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Development.
During the session, a ceremony has run to open the Sub-Center of East and Northeast Asian Region of the ESCAP. This sub-region includes Russia, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
