YEMEN TO PARTAKE IN 1ST CONFERENCE OF ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE



SANA'A May 22 (Saba) - Yemen is to participate in the First
Conference of the Architectural Heritage in Islamic countries,
organized by the Tourism Authority in Saudi Arabia during May 23-28,
with participation of over 25 Islamic countries.

Minister of Tourism Nabil al-Faqih told Saba upon his leaving on
Saturday for Saudi Arabia that the conference would highlight the
architectural heritage as a supportive component of investment and
tourism.

The conference represents an opportunity to learn from the
experiences of Muslim countries in the development of heritage sites
and employing them in tourism, al-Faqih noted.

He pointed out that he would present papers, including the mechanism
used in maintaining the historic city of Sana'a, the Yemeni mud
construction, and the mechanism of employing the heritage sites as
tourist destinations.

In addition to, al-Faqih would also participate in the exhibition
accompanying the conference, which presents tourism in Yemen, and
tells the traditional handicrafts, methods and tools of mud
architecture as one of the most important models of Yemen
traditional architecture, which has received wide attention.

On the sideline of the conference, al-Faqih would discuss with the
Saudi side the cooperation agreement signed between the Yemeni
Ministry of Tourism and the Saudi Tourism Authority and the
activation of memoranda of understanding relating to the tourist
product development

Moreover, al-Faqih would also meet with his counterparts from the
Islamic countries participating in the conference to discuss the
bilateral relations between our country and each country and ways of
activating and developing them in the field of tourism.
