YEMEN AT CONFERENCE ON MENA ELECTRICITY IN CAIRO



SANA'A, May 23 (Saba) - Yemen is taking part in the International
Conference on Electricity in the Middle East and North Africa, MENA,
in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.

Upon departure for the meeting that lasts five days, Director
General of the Public Electrical Corporation Mohammad Abdul Momin
Motahar siad the conference will discuss a number of issues related
to electricity in the MENA and the possibility of providing
logistical and technical assistance to regional states that need to
improve the services of electrical power.

He also said that Yemen will present a work paper on energy
projects and that will focus on trying to get financial,
technical and material support to increase its electrical power
capacity.

The paper will furthermore review the stages of power projects in
the country including the one to generate wind energy commenced in
Makha.

The first phase of the project costs $ 60 million provided by the
government, the World Bank and the French Development Agency.
