YEMENI AMBASSADOR STRESSES STRONG JORDANIAN-YEMENI TIES
AMMAN, May 23 (Saba)- Yemeni Ambassador to Jordan Hussein Taher bin Yahya stressed the deep, strong and historical relations between Jordan and Yemen in various fields.
In an interview with Jordan News Agency (Petra), on the occasion of Yemen's National Day, the ambassador affirmed keenness of both countries to promote cooperation and increase coordination towards various regional issues, including efforts to achieve peace and establish a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital on the basis of the credible terms of reference and the Arab peace initiative.
He also underlined the importance of the recent visit by Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh to Jordan and his talks with King Abdullah in enhancing bilateral ties at various levels.
On the economic field, bin Yahya highlighted the need to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, noting that "since the establishment of the joint Jordanian- Yemeni higher committee in 1989, the two countries have signed 229 agreements in many areas."
He added that preparations are underway for holding the 14th session of the joint committee in Sana’a, adding that a number of agreements will be signed during the meetings.
On the Israeli violations in the West Bank and the holy sites, the ambassador stressed Yemen's condemnation of such practices, and called for a unified Arab stance to stop such illegal acts.
On the other hand, the Yemeni Embassy highlighted, in a statement issued on the occasion of the country's national day, advantages of investment in Yemen, noting that the country welcomes local, Arab and foreign investments in various domains.
