12,372, HOUSEHOLD HEADS TAKEN OUT OF HARDCORE POVERTY LIST

KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) -- A total of 12,372 out of 44,643 household
heads have been taken out of the hardcore poverty list as of May this year, said
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
She said all of them were registered under the e-kasih system, the system
used to register people in the poverty group handled by the Implementation and
Coordination Unit under the Prime Minister's Department.
According to Shahrizat, a total of 1,455 women had also been trained in
entrepreneurship to raise their economic capabilities from December 2009 till
May 2010.
She said this at a charity banquet at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC)
here Sunday night.
Queen Tuanku Nur Zahirah was the guest-of-honour at the charity event.
