YEMEN'S EFFORTS IN FIELD OF FINANCIAL, ECONOMIC REFORMS REVIEWED



SANA'A, May 24 (Saba) - Yemen and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reviewed here on Monday Yemen's efforts in the field of financial, economic and administrative reforms and the results in this field.

In a meeting gathered Minister of Finance Nu'aman al-Suhaybi and the Fund's mission led by Hassan al-Atrash, the two sides discussed relations of bilateral cooperation.

They dealt with the role of donor countries and organizations, in forefront of which is the IMF, for the sake of success of these reforms.

Al-Suhaybi noted the importance of continuing the implementation of those reforms that have been adopted by the government in its national program through the ten priorities outlined by the government.

Regarding the financial policies, al-Suhaybi indicated to the output of the actual implementation of the 2009 budge and the current year budget (January-April).

Also, he reviewed the main trends of the 2010 budget, which is being developed by the Ministry in such a manner to reduce the deficit.

For his part, the head of the IMF's mission valued the Yemeni government efforts to carry out the national agenda for reforms, confirming the Fund's readiness to continue to offer the necessary support for the implantation of those reforms.

The IMF's official stressed the need to take actions by the government to strengthen the connection between its priorities and the development plans and enhance the non-oil revenues through applying the tax and custom laws completely.

He noted to the necessary of coordination between the financial and monetary policies to contain the inflation within safe limits.
