MALAYSIA, EU YES TO ENTRY OF LAGS ITEMS
KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) -- The European Union (EU) countries will
accept all liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) items in security tamper-evident
bags (STEBs) bought at the KL International Airport (KLIA) starting
tomorrow.
In a statement here Monday, Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd said all LAGs
items packed in STEBs bought at airports from EU countries would also be
accepted at KLIA, provided the specifications set by International Civil
Aviation Organisation (ICAO) were met.
"All LAGs items purchased at KLIA must be packed in approved STEBs with the
official receipt properly displayed to serve as proof of purchase within the
preceding 36 hours.
"This reciprocal arrangement meant all passengers bound for EU countries can
now purchase LAGs items at KLIA without any worries of them being confiscated by
security authoritites at EU airports," it said.
The ICAO recommended the ruling on the screening of liquids taken on board
aircraft on Dec 11, 2006, following the terrorist plot to blow up aircraft bound
to US from London on Aug 9, 2006 using liquid bomb.
