PREMIER MEETS HEAD OF CANADIAN PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister S.Batbold received Monday a delegation headed by Mrs. Maria Barrados, a president of the Public Service Commission of Canada (PSCC), and Mrs. Anna Biolik, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia. The Canadian delegation has been invited by the Mongolian State Service Council with aims to share views on development of the Mongolia-Canada cooperation in the public service.
The Premier said that experience of the Canadian state service will help in reforming Mongolia's state service. He emphasized an importance of improving professional skills of state service people, consummating a mechanism of their selection, introducing a public service based on facts, calculations, capacity and potential.
Mrs. Barrados mentioned about similarities between the two countries and spoke about a structure of Canada's public service. She said that the PSCC--an independent governmental agency--collects its human resources and makes appointments based on the non-political and open selection which maintains real and representative balance. According to her, a head of the PSCC is appointed by parliament of Canada. The PSCC pays attention in its work to the continuity of the public service and its stability, and possesses the right to control over Ministries and agencies.
