Panel formed to investigate Marib misdirected airstrike

SANAA, May 25 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh ordered on Tuesday to form a panel to investigate the misdirected airstrike that had resulted in the killing of Marib Local Council Secretary General
Jabir al-Shabwani.

Earlier, a source at the Supreme Security Committee regretted the death of
al-Shabwani that took place on Monday when the authorities targeted al-Qaeda
elements in Marib
province located in northeast Yemen. Escorts of al-Shabwani were also killed in the
airstrike.
Our hearts go out to the families of all victims, the source said, affirming that
the war on al-Qaeda will continue.
Yemen will not allow anyone to have its land as a safe haven for terrorist acts,
the source said.
The committee asks all the Yemeni people to alert the authorities about any
terrorist suspects wherever and whenever they see them, the source concluded.
