Yemen, IMF prepare economic, financial data collection report

SANA'A, May 26 (Saba)- Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya al-Mutawakil held Wednesday talks with a mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), headed by Hasan al-Atrash, on the report of the economic and financial data collection in accordance with Article No. IV of the Agreement for Collecting Economic and Financial Data to be submitted to the Executive Board.

The talks dealt with the economic and financial reforms implemented by Yemen with
its international partners and the government's efforts to integrate the Yemeni
economy
with the global economy to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).
They discussed indicators of the balance of trade of Yemen and the government's
efforts to expand the volume of non-oil exports, in addition to actions taken to
reduce the
rate of inflation and achieve price stability.
Al-Mutawakil reviewed what has been achieved in terms of Yemen's accession to the
WTO, particularly after the signing with the United States of America an agreement
on the
bilateral market access in goods and services and agreed on a timetable for the
accession by the end of this year.
He noted the positive results achieved by the implementation of the Reform Program
in Yemen in various aspects, the exerted efforts to improve investment environment
which
will improve the living standards, affirming to further implement the reform program
in cooperation with international partners .
For his part, IMF official praised the latest achievement of Yemen to join the
World Trade Organization, noting that Yemen's accession to WTO is a positive factor
that will
contribute to attracting investors and raise rates of economic growth in the country.
