Sing district people make money from sugar cane
(KPL) For this fiscal year 2007-08, the people of Sing districtin Luang Namtha province earned 18 million kip from the sale of sugar cane to a sugar factory in China.
The people who live in 60 villages here plant sugar cane on 1,333 hectares of land., and one hectare of land with this crop can yield 60 tons. One toncan fetch 200,000 kip.
Mr Osami, a technical staff of a sugar factory of China said that his factory provided 10, 000 sugar cane seeds to the people of Sing district fornext year's growing season.
He also said that his factory and the officials of the district are taking steps to expand the growing of sugar cane and the target is 1,633 hectares.The officials of Sing district said that sugar cane planting isenabling the people to make money and so improve their living condition.
