UMP FIRST PUBLIC VARSITY TO USE GERMAN CURRICULUM
KUANTAN, May 27 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) (University of
Malaysia, Pahang) has become the first public institution of higher learning in
the country to offer an engineering course at a bachelor's degree level using a
curriculum model from Germany.
This was made possible via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked
between UMP and Hochscule Karlsruhe Technic Und Wirtschaft (HsKA) Karlsruhe,
University of Applied Science.
The MoU was signed by UMP vice-chancellor Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim and
HsKA president Prof Dr Karl-Heinz Meisel here Thursday. The signing ceremony was
witnessed by Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
The memorandum was deemed significant in the context of UMP's aspiration
to
become a world-class technical university.
At a media conference later, Mohamed Khaled said the ministry lauded the
cooperation which was believed to be able to bring higher education in the
country to a greater height.
"This kind of ties between the university and the industry is very
important. As such, both parties should work closely to fulfill their needs," he
said.
