Wildlife rescue centre kicks off
Dong Nai (VNA)- The Nam Cat Tien National Park in southern Dong Nai province on July 12 put into operation a wildlife rescue centre, specializing in primate.
The centre, covering 30 ha of land inside original forests on the Tien (Fairy) island, has been entrusted to step in when illegally-caged primatesor primate trafficking are found.
It will also conduct research on rare primates' habitat to farm rescuedanimals in the natural environment before freeing them into the forests.
The centre was built at a cost of 500,000 Euro funded by the Monkey World-Ape Rescue Centre of the United Kingdom and the Primate RescueCentre of Taiwan .
It consists of 10 cages covering almost 700 sq. m., a feed-processing factory and an office for experts acting like a "Hospital in the forest." The "Hospital" has a main task to rescue, provide medical treatment and take care of rare animals after rescuing them from cages and before releasingthem to the nature.
The two above-mentioned foreign organizations have also sent their experts to the Nam Cat Tien National
