DAY OF PEACEKEEPERS MARKED
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On Saturday May 29, a ceremony took place on the Sukhbaatar Square to celebrate the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.
Present at the event were Ts.Elbegdorj, the President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces; L.Bold, the Defense Minister; some MPs; cabinet members; the head and members of the General Headquarters of Mongolia's Armed Forces (GHMAF); authorities of the Defense Ministry; Ambassadors of foreign countries to Mongolia, military attache, and others.
Other honored guests were the Mongolian peacekeepers and servicemen from the General Authority for Border Protection, the General Authority for Implementing Court Decisions, the General Police Department and the Central Intelligence Agency.
During the opening ceremony, the Guard of Honor and the Military personnel welcomed the Commander-in-Chief and gave him a report, then the national anthem of Mongolia was played.
After this, the President greeted the peacekeepers and gave a speech. For successful service for peacekeeping operation, some troops were awarded medals.
