SEA SCIENCES AUTHORITY: NO SIGNS FOR DEATH OF FISH ON YEMEN COASTS
ADEN, May 30 (Saba)- The General Authority for Research on Marine
Sciences and Aquaculture in Aden confirmed on Sunday that there are
no signs for the death of fish on the coasts of Yemen due to the
summer heat.
Deputy Director of the authority Salem Awad told Saba that the
phenomenon of heat is one of the natural factors that encourage
fishermen to hunt squid and bottom fish that float on the surface of
water and be easy to catch and breed in this season.
Among those fish is squid, which is currently being caught in the
Yemeni regional waters in the province of Mahrah and its fishing
season would continue until next September, in addition to the rest
of coastal provinces ,Hodeidah, Shabwa and Abyan and Yemeni islands.
Awad explained that the quantity of squid caught during the past
season amounted to 20,000 tons and expected increasing in the
quantity till next September.
