Yemen, IFC discuss SEZ law draft in Yemen

SANA'A, May 29 (Saba) - Yemen and the
International Finance Corporation (IFC) discussed here on Saturday the details of
legal support
for the law draft of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Yemen.
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and the
IFC operation officer for SEZ Mr. Gokhan reviewed aspects of current cooperation
between
Yemen and IFC.
In this regard, al-Arhabi affirmed the significance of carrying out the SEZ law,
which aims to enhance the government's goals to improve the business environment
and to
attract investments as well as to create job opportunities for youth in Yemen.
In return, the IFC officer affirmed the corporation's readiness to provide the
requisite technical support to assist the Yemeni government to finalize the SEZ
draft law
in Yemen, hailing the promising investment components available in Yemen.
On the other hand, al-Arhabi held another meeting with the delegation of the
International Monetary Fund (IMF), visiting Yemen currently.
They talked about several issues related to promote the standing and future
cooperation between the Yemen and IMF in the reform field.
The Minister noted to the IMF's contribution to prop up the reform process in Yemen
aiming to boost the financial, accounting, tax and custom reforms in addition to
reforms
targeting to improve the performance of banking and exchanging sectors in the country.
