PGPO SHIPS BEGIN JOURNEY TO GAZA FOR AID MISSION

PARIT (Malaysia), May 31 (Bernama) -- Three ships from the Perdana Global
Peace Organisation (PGPO) Sunday left the Port of Malta at 3pm (Malaysian time)
to join the convoy to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Peninsula.

The member of parliament for Parit, Mohd Nizar Zakaria, who is one of the
mission members, said the three ships from the PGPO should have left on Tuesday
(May 25) but they had to delay their trip several times following various
obstacles from the Israeli regime.

Parit is a main town of Perak Tengah district, a northern Perak-state in
Peninsular Malaysia.

"Even until now, we still face various obstacles and pressure from the
Israeli regime which is against the implementation of the humanitarian mission,"
he told Bernama when contacted via his Facebook website, Sunday.

He said the main vessel 'Rachel Corie', on which he is travelling, would
join two other ships namely 'Challenger 1' and 'Challenger 2' which had left the
Port of Cyprus Saturday.

He said all preparations had been made and hoped there would be no more
obstacles or pressure so that the mission could be accomplished.

Mohd Nizar hoped all Malaysians would pray for the success of the mission
and for their safe return.

Besides Mohd Nizar, other members of the mission included PGPO
representatives Shamsul Akmar Musa Kamal, Matthias Chang and two media
representatives from TV3.

The mission is also participated by six ships from other international
humanitarian aid groups such as the 'Turkish Relief Foundation', 'European
Campaign to End the Siege of Gaza' and 'Swedish and Greek Boat to Gaza
Initiatives'.
