NEED TO PROMOTE 1MALAYSIA IN DIVERSITY, SAYS MINISTER

PETALING JAYA (Malaysia), May 31 (Bernama) -- The people should find ways to
promote 1Malaysia in diversity, said Information Communication and Culture
Minister Dr Rais Yatim.

However, he said it was unfortunate that the IMalaysia multiracial aspect
was not reflected during the final of the Gah1 RTM programme, a local song
competition.

"Tonight, I see that most of the young people present are Malays, so we
should be asking ourselves whether we should allow such a situation to prevail
and whether the 1Malaysia society really exist.

"If we can answer this, the ministry will do a new evaluation so that the
1Malaysia aspirations can be achieved," he told reporters at the Gah1 final at
Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, here, Sunday night.

Rais said the next Gah1 programme might be brought to another state.

"But if we can find a bigger stadium or arena for the next event, the impact
will be bigger than what we see tonight," he added.

The most popular song in the competition turned out to be the 6ixth Sense's
"Khatimah Cinta", while the 'best performance' award went to singer Alyah.

The best song was "Tak Mungkin Kerana Sayang" by Alyah and second best,
"Cinta Adam dan Hawa" by Misha Omar.
