INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES TO PREPARE SANA'A CITY MASTER PLAN



SANA'A, May 31(Saba) - Yemen signed on Monday with three
international consulting companies an agreement of conducting
consultancy studies on projects of urban development and
comprehensive services in the capital Sana'a.

Upon the agreement, a Master Plan of Sana'a City 2030 will be
implemented in the fields of urban development in order to enrich
the tourist and cultural sides of Sana'a city.

It also stipulated to prepare five-year programs and plans for the
coming 20 years.

Speaking to Saba, Sana'a Mayor Abdul-Rahman al-Akwa'a affirmed the
importance of the agreement for contribute to setting up executive
plans and investment programs focusing on the capital's needs for
the next 20 years.

"The project is considered one of the most important strategic plans
in urban development and enhancement of the cultural and tourist
sides in the capital", he said.

Al-Akwa'a added that the project would be implemented within one
year and financed by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social
Development (AFESD).

The project would cover the trends and indicators of urban growth
and infrastructure services for Sana'a the capital till 2030.

Residential houses as well as office buildings will be numbered, as
the first phase of Sana'a City 2030 Master Plan.

It is also worth mentioning that a spokesman from the Ministry of
Communications and Information Technology said on Tuesday, that it
had completed the first satellite image atlas of Yemen. This will be
an important reference for researchers and specialists.
