YEMEN AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BAKATHIR

SANA'A, May 31 (Saba) - Minister of Culture Mohammad al-Maflahi led
Monday a Yemeni delegation for the International Conference on the
great Yemeni writer Ali Ahmad BaKathir being held in Egypt's
capital, Cairo.

The conference is being organized by the Arab Writers Union in
association with the Muslim Writers Society during May 31-June 03.

Culture Ministers in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab
Emirates and a number of Arab authors are attending the gathering
highlighting BaKathir art works on the 100th anniversary of his
birth.

The meeting comes ahead of the conference that would be organized by
Yemen's Culture Ministry on the writer within the activities of
Tarim the Islamic Culture Capital 2010, the minister said.

The ministry is working hard to implement President Saleh's orders
to publish all works of Bakathir and switch his house to a cultural
central, he added.
