SANA'A, June 01(Saba) - Yemen
is to host a regional conference on youth empowerment, during the period (June 7 to
9).
A number of concerned government agencies, private sector, civil society
organizations, and Arab and international organizations are to partake in this
conference, organized
by Ministry of Youth and Sports and Childhood Care Organization with support from
the U.S.
Agency for International Development (USAID).
According to the Childhood Care Organization, the conference aims to define youth's
needs and empowerment areas of priority to build their capacities and promote youth
people
economically, socially, and culturally and their opportunities for participation in
decision-making, development, security and peace.
The conference also aims at mobilizing support and advocacy to empower youth in the
various fields as a necessary developmental, national and humanitarian priority.
Moreover, the participants would review the existing legislations, polices, and
mechanisms of empowerment and evaluate the results, in addition to knowing about
local and
international experiences and exchanging expertise between the participants.
They would identify obstacles to the involvement of youth in the labor market and
set out a vision to address them, as well as to create a database and a common
monitoring
and evaluation system to all institutions working in the area of youth empowerment.
The conference would discuss those goals as four axes: the economic, social, and
cultural axes, and the axis of participation, through seminars and a number of
papers and
presentation of products and experiences of national and regional youth institution.
