China expands rubber tree plantation area to Luang Namtha

VIENTIANE,01 JUN (KPL) - Northern province of Luang Namtha has given 10,000 ha to Provincial Military Headquarter and Lao-China Lui Phong Company to plant rubber tree.
The project is expected to be invested more than US$50 million, according to the agreement.
The signing ceremony was held on 25 May, in presence of Governor of Luang Namtha province Phimmasone Lueangkhamma and representatives from Ministry of National Defence.
The project will be contributed to the socio-economic development in the province, said Head of Provincial Military Headquarter, Mr Simoun Thounphouvieng.
He added that the project will run the rubber tree plantation for nearly five years to be successful.
After signing agreement, the Provincial Governor has advised the company to pay attention to the country’s law on business operation and the project should be legally implemented under the agreement.
The environment protection is the main issue that the company should be focused on, governor said.
He added that the cooperation between the company and relevant sectors in province should be strengthened in order to prevent the negative phenomena during the project implementation.
