On the two-wheeler front, market leader Hero Honda
reported its highest ever monthly sales of 4,35,933 units in
May, a 13.92 per cent increase over 3,82,678 units in the same
month last year.
Rival Bajaj Auto's sales increased by 61.56 per cent to
2,99,442 units, compared to 1,85,341 units in the year-ago
period.
Chennai-based TVS Motor Company's sales rose 30.44 per
cent to 1,54,667 units against 1,18,574 units in the
corresponding month last year.
Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor reported a 17.04 per
cent increase in total sales in May to 25,033 units. It sold
21,388 units in the same month last year.
Mahindra & Mahindra Tuesday reported an over three-fold
jump in two-wheeler sales to 8,037 units in May.
The company sold 2,193 scooters during the corresponding
month last year, Mahindra & Mahindra said in a statement. PTI
