ISIS M'SIA TO HOST 24th ASIA-PACIFIC ROUNDTABLE HERE NEXT WEEK
KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 (Bernama) -- The Institute of Strategic and
International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia will be hosting the 24th Asia Pacific Roundtable (APR) here next week.
It said the conference, themed "Strengthening Comprehensive and Cooperative
Security in the Asia Pacific", would be held from June 7 to 9.
Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak would open the roundtable and
deliver the keynote address while Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin
would deliver the closing address, the think tank said in a statement Wednesday.
"The 24th APR will bring together some of the region's most prominent
scholars and policymakers to discuss the region's strategic challenges.
"As in previous years, we expect the roundtable to attract about 200
participants. They will, among others, examine China's foreign policy and the
trajectory of US engagement with Asia," ISIS Malaysia said.
This year's roundtable would also feature sessions on Japanese foreign
policy, political developments in Myanmar, and the security situation in the
Korean Peninsula, it added.
APR is a project of the Asean Institutes of Strategic and International
Studies. The conference is supported by the Economic Research Institute for
Asean and East Asia, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the Embassy of Japan, Japan
Foundation, and East West Institute, Belgium.
