CABINET TABLES MOTION CONDEMNING ISRAEL AT PARLIAMENT
KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 (Bernama) -- The cabinet Wednesday decided to table a motion at the House of Representatives to condemn strongly the attack by Israeli security forces on a ship carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that the motion would be
tabled at the House of Representatives on Monday.
On Tuesday Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had stated that Malaysia
would propose that the attack and violence committed by Israel would be raised
at the United Nations (UN) Security Council meeting.
He had also instructed Wisma Putra (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to rescue
all the Malaysian nationals affected.
Foreign Minister Anifah Aman left for Jordan Wednesday morning to seek
the release of the 12 Malaysian nationals detained on Monday when Israeli troops
attacked the ship that they were travelling on together with international
volunteers on their way to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza.
Twelve Malaysian nationals, including two journalists with the Astro Awani
television station were on board the Turkish ship, "Mavi Marmara", and they were
reported to be safe during the attack which resulted in several volunteers being
killed.
Israel, which was severely criticised by the international community, was
reported to have said that it would evict all the 682 volunteers from 35
countries who were detained during the attack.
