TREATY ON BOUNDARY REGIME SIGNED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Mongolia and the People's Republic of China signed Tuesday a Mongolia-China inter-governmental treaty on the Mongolia-China boundary regime and regulation of boundary issues. This is an alteration of such a contract established between the countries in 1988.
Thanks to establishing this treaty, legal environments will be refined upon to protect border of Mongolia, ensure the inviolability of the frontiers, safeguard the boundary regime for border regions, prevent boundary conflicts and to stop any conflicts. The governments of the two countries will create a legal basis on comprehensive matters of developing boundary trade, economic and tourism relations in a scope of the state policy and laws, improving supervision over various activities in boundary regions, effectively using and protecting the boundary water and environment. Moreover, a legal basis will be created for the governments to establish and use new facilities along borders and to improve functions of the border checkpoints.
