IRW HOLDS SENIOR STAFF MEETINGS IN YEMEN
SANA’A, June 02 (Saba)- Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is holding a series of meetings in Sana’a for two weeks.
In a press release, the IRW said that the 24 May-06 June meetings aim to bring together its senior staff members from across the Middle East and Eastern Europe, representatives of its worldwide partners and its global board of trustees.
‘’They shall review issues relevant to the region while further mapping out the organization's regional and global strategic directions for the coming five years’’, the IRW said.
‘’The global strategic aspects being discussed in Sana'a build upon a similar series of meetings held in March 2010 in Mali and will directly feed into an upcoming program in Asia’’.
"Yemen was a natural choice to host this event due to our growth and diversity of programming and our continuing commitment to the people of Yemen", Jamal Al-Din Belke, IRW Head of Region noted.
Islamic Relief Yemen is currently running programmes which offer support to orphans and their families, strengthen Yemeni civil society and help to resolve conflict.
In addition to managing two camps for over 17,000 displaced people, Islamic Relief Yemen (IRY) has continued improving access to water and healthcare in rural areas over recent years.
"Islamic Relief enjoys good relations with the Yemeni government, who have been very supportive of our projects. Our coordination has led to more effective programmes that we hope will help in the
struggle against poverty", Khalid Al Mulad, Islamic Relief Yemen (IRY) Country Director said.
Islamic Relief has been working in Yemen since 1998 and in Saada governorate since 2005. IRY is the main implementing partner to UN World Food Programme in the governorates of Saada,
Hajja and Amran.
It is currently coordinating Al-Mazrak 1 camp for displaced people and has recently completed the construction of Al Mazrak 3 in Haradh, Hajjah Governorates.
