M'SIAN VOLUNTEERS ON BOARD RACHEL CORRIE CONTINUE MISSION

KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 (Bernama) -- The gruelling experience of 12 Malaysian
volunteers who were seized after Israeli troops raided a Gaza-bound humanitarian
aid flotilla on Monday, has not dampened the spirit of fellow Malaysian
representatives on board the Rachel Corrie ship.

Instead, they were more than prepared to continue with the mission to
deliver the humanitarian aid for the Palestinians in Gaza, Perdana Global Peace
Organisation (PGPO) representative Shamsul Akmar Musa Kamal said in a statement
here Thursday.

"(We are) Glad to hear about the release of fellow Malaysians although
concerned to hear that they were not well treated. Hope we don't have to go
through the same ordeal but that choice is not ours.

"We are prepared to face whatever situation that awaits us and we are
determined to go ahead and carry on with this mission. Everyone on board is in
high spirits," he said on behalf of the Malaysians on board the MV Rachel
Corrie.

He said their only hope was that with the international pressure and backing
from the various governments, the ship would be able to go further and be given
safe passage to Gaza.

The 12 Malaysian volunteers, who are currently in Jordan, are scheduled to
return to Malaysia on Sunday. On May 30, three ships from the PGPO, including
the MV Rachel Corrie, left the Port of Malta to deliver humanitarian aid to the
Gaza Peninsula. Besides Shamsul, those on board the Rachel Corrie include Parit
Member of Parliament Mohd Nizar Zakaria, lawyer Matthias Chang and two media
representatives from the TV3 television station.

The other two PGPO ships are 'Challenger 1' and 'Challenger 2'.
