MUSLIM WORLD BIZ 2010 EXHIBITION AIMS TO GARNER RM100 MLN SALES
KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 (Bernama) -- The Muslim World Biz 2010 Business and
Investment Zone Exhibition aims to attract 30,000 trade and public visitors,
targeting sales of over RM100 million (US$30 million) during the three-day event
from Friday.
Organising chairman Dr Raja Mohamad Abdullah said the event provided
an ideal opportunity for business people who wanted to expand their networking
and market sectors.
"We have received good response from all over the world, not only from
Muslim countries like Jordan, Turkey and Yemen but also getting participants
from Canada and the Philippines," he told reporters on the sidelines of the
official opening here Friday.
"We expect trade visitors from Europe, the United States, the Far East,
Africa and Asia," he said.
Taking part in the event are 107 exhibitors from over 11 countries
displaying their products over the 4,500-square metre exhibition area.
Held in conjunction with Muslim World Biz 2010 is a two-day conference
beginning Friday.
Raja Mohamad said the annual event provided a platform for businessmen,
entrepreneurs, international investors and buyers to explore joint ventures,
investments and trade opportunities available in the Muslim world and other
participating countries.
Muslim World Biz is also a consumer fair, whereby visitors will find various
products and services from a wide range of industries, including food and travel
products, travel and tour packages, electrical products, handicraft and
properties, he said.
"It is also a platform for businessmen to further enhance intra-trade among
the Muslim world," he added.
Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Department, Liew Vui Keong,
who officiated the event, said there were many business opportunities for
investors to tap into the Muslim countries.
"Besides the halal food industry, the tourism and education sectors are
among the potential investments that need to be developed further," he said,
adding that Muslim World Biz 2010 was also a good platform to attract
investments from the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) countries.
Last year, trade among the OIC countries stood at US$2.0 trillion. --
