SUSPECTED QAEDA FRENCH ARRESTED IN YEMEN

SANA'A, June 06 (Saba) - A French citizen has been arrested in
Yemen's capital, Sana'a, on suspicion of having links with Al-Qaeda,
almotamar.net reported on Sunday.

Johnny White was arrested tens days ago at the Sana'a Institute for
Arabic Language.

He entered the country in late last year with the goal to study
Arabic.

White's arrest comes as many arrests of westerners have been carried
out by the Yemeni authorities in recent months on suspicion of
having links to Al-Qaeda.

Among the arrested were three U.S. citizens and an Australian
mother.

Sources at the institute were quoted as saying that White's
behaviour has recently been like the behavior of Abdulmutallab who
tried to bomb a U.S.-bound passenger jetliner in late last year.

White speaks Arabic fluently.

After he started to miss classes and be absent, the institute
administration dismissed him but police at Sana'a Airport returned
and put him under surveillance until he was arrested.
