Parliament discusses drat law of Expatriates Fund
SANA'A, June 05 (Saba) - The
Parliament discussed on Saturday an explanatory memo of the draft law of the
Expatriates Welfare
Fund, submitted by the government.
The memo included the reasons leading to the establishment of the Fund due to the
emergence of difficulties and problems in cases of the expatriates' welfare.
It also noted that some of the current charities lack the legal and regulatory
frameworks, which encouraged the emergence of some illegal agencies for the
collection of
funds from expatriates.
There is a multiplicity of the expatriates' needs in all aspects of cultural,
sport, professional, social, and legal, and the Expatriates Ministry's inability to
meet all
these needs despite their importance, the memo pointed out.
The Fund would be the official institution to absorb these funds and direct them to
address the expatriates' conditions and develop them culturally, politically and
socially,
the memo explained.
The parliament postponed the decision in the subject to the meeting of Sunday.
