Al-Mutawakil: Ministry supports Yemeni businesswomen activity
SANA'A, June 05 (Saba)
- Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya al-Mutawakil affirmed Saturday that his
ministry
encourages the activity of Yemeni businesswomen and women in general, so as to
contribute to realize the desired economic growth.
In a workshop, organized by the National Women's Committee in coordination with the
ministry on results of the ministry analytical report from the perspective of
gender,
al-Mutawakil said that the policies of the fourth five-year plan for development
includes programs and plans serving the national economic development, and giving
the private
sector many opportunities in the local investment in order to provide job
opportunities for women.
He pointed to the ministry's declaration of annual award for the prominent
businesswomen and the allocation of a special window for women at the ministry,
through which
it provides all services of the ministry easily.
For her part, Head of the Women's Committee Rashidah al-Hamdani pointed that
creating a database for gender and training women cadres in the various ministries
is one the
main functions of the committee.
She stressed at the same time the need to find investment programs that serve the
gender issues in general and women in particular.
The workshop came up with recommendations, which emphasize giving women 20 percent
annually in the training field of the total training courses of the ministry, and
developing
an information system for the ministry and improving the business environment.
Furthermore, the workshop recommended allocating a certain percentage of employment
and investment projects for women within the fourth five-year plan for development
to
ensure their involvement in the labor market and trade competitiveness and provide
facilities for them to move forward on the domestic investment more broadly.
