Progress in project to rehabilitate Aden's vocational institute

ADEN, June 05 (Saba) - Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Muthana, =
with a delegation of the European Commission
(EC) headed by Michel Carlon and representative of the UNHCR in Yemen =
Clair got acquainted on Saturday with the progress in a project to =
rehabilitate the Vocational and Industrial
Institute in al-Mansora in Aden province.
The EC-funded project is implemented by the Italian " Intersos" =
Organization and includes the establishment of a new sections of =
aluminum outfitting and equipping it with
modern equipments and preparation of curricula and training of trainers =
within the rehabilitation of the Bomedian Institute for Vocational =
Education in Lahj and the Vocational
and Industrial Institute in Aden at a total cost of USD 110 thousand.
The delegation's visit is an extension of visit by a delegation of the =
UNHCR and the observer of agreement between the UNHCR and the Ministry =
of Technical Education and
Vocational Training on the opening of a new section in the institution =
and a number of specialized training courses for Yemeni students and a =
number of refugees in Yemen,
Undersecretary of the Ministry Abdul Qadir al-Albi made it clear Saba.
Al-Albi pointed out that the EC and the ministry would sign an =
agreement within the next two years for opening similar sections in =
provinces of Sana'a, Taiz, Hodeidah and
Hadramout, confirming the ministry's keenness to boost areas of =
cooperation with the EC in future joint projects in the technical and =
vocational education sector.
On another hand, Muthana and the delegation of the EC and UNHCR got =
acquainted with the conditions in a number of camps of the African and =
Somali refugees in Lahj and Aden,
as well as the services provided for refugees by the Yemeni government =
and the international humanitarian organizations.
