Local official: there is gap in women's employment, training
SANA'A, June 06 (Saba)
- Undersecretary of Local Administration Ministry for Women Development Sector
Khadija
Radman pointed out on Sunday that there is a big gap in the level of women's
employment and training at the ministry.
In a workshop, organized by the National Committee for Women on an analytic report
of the ministry from the gender prospective, Radman said that the national strategy
for
local governance would give women greater opportunities to take on tasks in specific
sectors.
She explained that the women's development sector has set the general goals of the
sector to overcome the gap, particularly the participation of women in the local
councils
and administrative bodies.
At the same time she stressed the commitment of women to the 15 percent in the next
elections after the consensus of all political parties and organizations to apply
it
on the ground.
For her part, Head of the National Committee for Women Horyah Mashhor affirmed that
the gender gap still exists in the fields of employment and training.
"We can not determine the gender needs in the fourth five-year plan without
reviewing and analyzing the gender component in the third five-year plan and the
achievements
and failures", said Mashhor.
