Illegal migrants continue to invade Yemen
HODEIDA, June 08 (Saba) - The security authorities in Yemen's western Hodeida province have turned over 70 Africans including 11
Sudanese and 59 Ethiopians to the Immigration and Passport Authority in the capital Sana'a .
The Africans were detained after they illegal entered the country on smuggling
boats that usually arrive at Yemeni coasts.
Also, the Immigration and Passport Authority said that arrangements have got
underway to deport other 400 Africans, mostly Ethiopians who infiltrated into Yemen
during the
last few days.
It said that it had received over the past two days 329 illegal migrants who were
arrested by the authorities in western province of Taiz.
The people would be deported to their countries in this month.
Hundreds of illegal migrants land in Yemen daily, fleeing deteriorating situations
in some African Horn countries.
They lay more burdens on the national economy and pose threats to the national
security as well.
Official statistics suggest that there hundreds of thousands of refugees in the
country, most of whom are Somalis.
