USA affirms support for Yemen reforms

SANA'A, June 09 (Saba)- The US Deputy
Secretary of Treasury Neal S.
Wolin reaffirmed on Wednesday support of the United States of America for stability,
unity and democracy of Yemen.
In a press conference at the end of his visit to Yemen, Wolin said that "raising
the US support for Yemen indicates the wide relations between the two countries,"
affirming
that the support will focus on fields of improving living standards of citizens and
empowering youth and women, in addition to projects of health and sanitation.
He made clear that his visit comes upon directives from President Barack Obama in
order to hold talks with senior Yemeni officials over expanding the bilateral
cooperation,
specially in fields of the economic development and stressed support of the USA for
the economic reforms which Yemen adopts.
Wolin considered this move a strong indication of the US concern to back the
economic development in Yemen, noting that President Obama has already requested
the Congress
to raise ceiling of aid and assistance offered for Yemen.
"We will work along with out international partners, WB, IMF and Yemen friends to
help efforts of Yemen so as to overcome the economic challenges facing the
country," he
said.
The US official made clear that Yemen and the US share wider ties in various
domains such as cooperation in reinforcing developing and economy as well as the
security cooperation
in fighting terrorism within the international partnership.
