STATE HEAD MEETS WITH TURKISH PRESIDENT
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj met with his counterpart of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Abdullah Gul in Istanbul city.
Beginning the meeting, Mr. Gul expressed his satisfaction with receiving a delegation of Mongolia led by the President Ts.Elbegdorj. “The first historical script monument related to Turkey is preserved in Mongolia. Our people are satisfied with the bilateral friendly relations and cooperation, which started from ancient times,” Mr. Gul said. He expressed his thanks to the Mongolian State Head for participating in the 3rd Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) that took place in Turkey.
Mr. Gul is very confident that the Turkey-Mongolia relations will deepen not only within the CICA but also through other international organizations. Mentioning about the expansion of the economic and commercial cooperation, the Turkish President said that he urged Turkish businessmen to make investments to Mongolia's mining and agricultural sectors. “Our bilateral relations are also expanding through the cooperation in the education sector. For instance, number of Mongolian students in Turkey is increasing. A number of Turkish schools is increasing in Mongolia, too. Moreover, I have been supporting Turkish International Cooperation Agency's (TICA) activities in Mongolia,” he stressed.
In turn, the President Elbegdorj expressed his satisfaction with warm greetings, and concluded that the CICA's third summit was held with a success, hosted by Turkey.
“We must strengthen our mutual confidence through engaging in the world community. Our countries have historic relations, and our relations and cooperation are successfully developing in all spheres,” Elbegdorj said. He views that two countries are able to bring their relations into comprehensive and strategic partnership, and that it is needed to boost relations in certain sectors. "I hope that the Intergovernmental Trade and Economic Committee will make some important decisions at its meeting to be held in June,” Elbegdorj stressed.
The Mongolian President pointed out that Mongolia is restoring and rehabilitating historical sites and pays specific attention to preserving the symbols of historical brotherly relations between our peoples. He is also satisfied with training Mongolians at scholarships of the Turkish government.
During the meeting, Mr. Elbegdorj invited the Turkish President to visit Mongolia, and hoped that this visit will bring the bilateral ties into a newer level with rich contents.
The President Elbegdorj emphasized that the Mongolian people highly speak the Turkey people as our close friends and partners in the region, and expressed a confidence that the Turkish people also consider Mongolia as their close friend in Asia.
