WE WANT YOU TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MONGOLIA
BONE SETTING
The traditional Mongolian with a bone fracture or dislocation used to go to the Bariach (bonesetter), who used no medicines or surgical instruments.
The Bariach would hold the fractured or dislocated bone in his (or her) hands, twisting it here and there, for some time, while the patient would feel no pain.
These born healers, who were just laymen, used to no spells, charms, or rituals, but after twisting the area for a while in their hands, would advise the patient to take some rest.
After the treatment, there are no records of complaint, no matter how serious the injury may have been. The injured person was back to normal soon after the treatment.
The strange thins was that these healers laid no claim to any medical knowledge nor did they know any charms or magic. They were just ordinary laypeople with no training of any kind. They were born bonesetters, with hands that worked as magical instruments.
Such healers came from a family tradition of bone setting: their parents were bonesetters, and their children usually became bonesetters.
In Mongolia, it was believed that the Bariach had the secret of bone setting in their blood.
No one has yet carried out sufficient research nor suggested how it was done.
