GOVT CONFIDENT SIX PER CENT GROWTH ACHIEVABLE, SAYS MSIAN DPM

KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 (Bernama) -- The government is confident of attaining
the projected annual growth rate of six per cent during the 10th Malaysia Plan
(10MP) period from 2011 and 2015.

"We are confident of achieving the target," said Deputy Prime Minister
Muhyiddin Yassin.

To realise the growth rate, the role of the private sector in propelling the
economy is of upmost importance, he told a press conference after Prime Minister
Najib Razak tabled the five-year development plan in Parliament here Thursday.

The 10MP is critical in realising Malaysia's Vision 2020 and in becoming a
high-income nation.

"The Prime Minister has taken into consideration all areas and the interest
of all groups in society in charting the five-year economic plan," he added.

Muhyiddin said the Government Transformation Plan (GTP) was also crucial
as it served as a growth driver to the nation's economic well-being as all
government plans would bear fruition if the public service delivery system can
be improved further.

On the much-talked about subsidy reduction, he said it would be a carefully
planned move which would be parallel with the GTP.

"He (the Prime Minister) wants the peoples' blessings and support to ensure
the successful implementation of the 10MP (projects and programme)," Muhyiddin
added.
