Adriana Xenides farewelled in Sydney
Mourners have farewelled former Wheel of Fortune hostess Adriana Xenides during a
ceremony in Sydney's southwest.
The 54-year-old ex-model died surrounded by family at Liverpool Hospital on June 7
from complications following a ruptured intestine.
Friday's Greek Orthodox ceremony at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Leppington, featured the
release of 12 white doves and the Elton John song Candle in the Wind.
John Burgess, her co-host for 12 of her record 18 years with Wheel of Fortune, was
among the mourners.
Xenides was remembered as a bright teenager and a delightful woman who loved
flamenco, News Ltd reported.
Her ill-health, which also included depression and exhaustion, caused Xenides to
eventually retire from Wheel of Fortune.
She slipped from the public eye in 1999, before briefly returning as a guest on
Celebrity Big Brother, Beauty and the Beast and Catch Phrase.
