Ongoing preparations for establishing wind power plant in Yemen

SANA'A, June 12 (Saba) - Prime Minister Ali Mujawar met on Saturday with Chairman of the Korean Shinhan Company Chun Hwan Kim, who briefed him on the ongoing preparations for establishing the
first power plant to produce energy by wind in Yemen.

The company's chairman explained that the station, scheduled to be implemented by
the company within two months in the city of Makha in Taiz governorate, would
generate
60 megawatts of electricity.
He confirmed that the completion of this project, which is the first of its kind in
Yemen, would be within ten months from the date of the start of the operational
work
for the establishment of the station, expressing his appreciation for the support
and concern by the government for the success of the project.
Mujawar affirmed the important of the project, which comes within the executive
steps for the ten priorities regarding the electricity sector, noting to the
developmental
and investment dimensions of the project.
The generation of electricity through this project would open the doors widely for
this type of projects in Yemen, which is based on using one of the natural sources
of
the renewable energy, Mujawar said.
He urged the company to expedite the start of the implementation process according
to the timetable for the completion of the project by the agreed deadline Once
again Mujawar
renewed the government support for such vital investments that would promote the
situation of the produced electrical power and not damage the environment.
