Ministerial committee reviews anti-smuggling strategy

SANA'A, June 13 (Saba)- The
Ministerial Committee to combat smuggling reviewed on Sunday a paper submitted by
the Customs
Authority on an anti-smuggling strategy and its operational procedures.
The committee postponed approval of the anti-smuggling strategy for the coming
phase to its meeting next week to allow for receiving proposals and visions of the
competent
authorities and thereby to achieve the objectives of this strategy.
In this aspect, the committee affirmed the importance of combating smuggling
because of its harmful effects on the national economy and public health.
It stressed that all relevant agencies have to take up their constitutional and
legal responsibilities in the fight against smuggling, including the leaders of
local authorities,
military, security institutions.
Furthermore, the committee urged to take actions that aim to curbing the smuggling
operation, with participation of the private sector and the local authorities in
the districts.
