INMARSAT CHOOSES ASIA PACIFIC TO LAUNCH ISATPHONE PRO
SINGAPORE, June 15 (Bernama) -- Global mobile satellite communications
services provider Inmarsat, has chosen the Asia Pacific region for the debut of
its latest handheld satellite phone, the IsatPhone Pro.
The decision reflects the importance of the regional market to the company.
Inmarsat launched the new satellite phone today at Asia's premier ICT event,
CommunicAsia 2010, which began Tuesday and ends on June 18.
Helen Stalker, Commercial Director for Global Satellite Phone Services at
Inmarsat said launching the IsatPhone Pro at the CommunicAsia 2010, reflected
the company's faith in the event's ability to reach key regional audiences and
beyond.
"The Asia Pacific is a key region for us due to its strong purchasing power
and usage," she told reporters.
Targeted primarily at professional users in the government, media, oil and
gas, mining and construction sectors, the IsatPhone Pro is among the cheapest
satellite phones in the market.
It is being promoted at a suggested retail price of US$699.
"With the promotional incentives at launch, our IsatPhone Pro is a game
changer. This phone gives price and performance leadership for the remote
environment market," Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Inmarsat, Andrew
Sukawaty said.
Offering up to eight hours talk time and up to 100 hours on standby, the
phone is also capable of operating from a -20 degrees C to +55 degrees C, which
is the widest temperature range of any satellite phone.
Sukawaty said the unique design of the IsatPhone Pro include a fully
manoeuvrable antenna, allows the handset to be placed on its side for
easy-hands-free use via bluetooth.
"Through our 13 distribution partners worldwide, the levels of customer
service and support are unrivalled," he highlighted.
The distribution partners for IsatPhone Pro are AST, China Telecom, Evosat,
Korea Telecom, MCN, MVS, Network Innovations, NSSL, RRSat, Satcom Global,
Singtel, Stratos and Vizada.
"It meets all the fundamental user requirement and Inmarsat provides the
best channel support in the industry.
"It will undoubtedly shake-up the global handheld market, as it is the best
overall proposition available," he explained.
