Yemen, IFC discuss business environment enhancement
SANA'A, June 16 (Saba) - Yemen
and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank discussed here on
Wednesday
the enhancement of business environment and investment Yemen.
This came during a meeting gathered the Chairman of the Commercial and Industrial
Chamber in the Capital Sana'a Hassan al-Kabous and a delegation of the IFC.
The two sides dealt with mechanisms to enable the Yemeni businessmen and private
sector to benefit from services and facilities provided by the IFC, especially in
areas
of training in trade and investment fields.
Al-Kabous praised the IFC's efforts to support the development potentials in Yemen,
stressing the need to involve the private sector in the process of reforms being
undertaken
by the government and the IFC to facilitate the government procedures in the customs
and taxation.
For his part, Head of the IFC's delegation commended the important role played by
the private sector in the economic development in Yemen.
He affirmed the IFC's keenness to involve the Yemeni private sector in the process
of reforms and the corporation's readiness to offer the financial and technical
support
to help Yemen in these fields.
The IFC's official pointed to the need to work to solve all problems and
difficulties faced by local and foreign investors and to facilitate and simplify
the government
procedures of customs, taxation, cargo handling, and internal and external transport
and to create distinct infrastructure to attract foreign investments to Yemen.
He reviewed the services provided by the corporation in Yemen and the corporation's
efforts to attract the industrial and trade investments.
